Lakeforest (#170032)

Size: 30" X 21.5"

This painting is a representation of a place called Devprayag near Rishikesh in India, where the River Bhagirathi meets River Alakhnanda to flow together there after and become the Holy River Ganga. The colour difference bete\ween the two streams is clearly visible if you look from top of the hill. The depth of the space, shades and shadows of trees, flying birds; all these create a dramatic picture frame.

The painting is Inspired by a seasonal festival “Holi” widely celebrated across India.  A celebration is held to celebrate change from Winter Season to Summer season. Dry tree branches, leaves etc are burnt as an offering during prayer. The most prominent visual elements are fire and faces lit by vibrance of fire. The painting tries to capture these two elements.
